The importance of Not drinking Water during Yoga Class

Drinking water is very healthy as water hydrates and cleanses our body. Moreover, drinking water is essential for us to live.

In yoga, it is advisable to come to class hydrated. That is, drink all the water you need during the day, even the 24 hours prior to class.

During class, is best to keep water away, unless you are dehydrated or did not take enough water prior to class.

Avoiding drinking water during class will let you practise all asanas or postures without feeling bloated and unable to perform them. The postures in class include twists, inverted postures, pressure of abdomen, back bends… and all of them need an empty stomach of food or water as it can be very uncomfortable or even you can get nauseous or sick in class.

Also, do not forget to start rehydrating right after the yoga class, so muscles and other parts of the body get the water they need to recover.
